KNEE ARTHROSCOPY

Normal knee function

Knee Arthroscopy is one of the most commonly performed procedures in the UK.

It involves making several small incisions around the knee to allow insertion of small instruments into the knee to repair damaged structures.

All of our specialist hip and knee surgeons have expertise in the application of these techniques to :

Repair torn maniacal cartilage
Remove damaged cartilage and loose bone fragments
Reconstruct damaged ligaments

WHAT IS THE RECOVERY TIME?

Knee arthroscopy is usually performed as a daycase procedure. Patients are able to fully weight bear following the surgery but may need 1 – 2 weeks off work to allow the knee to recover from a simple arthroscopy.

If more complex arthroscopic surgery has been performed then this may necessitate a longer period off-work and supervised physiotherapy during the recovery stage.
