Dear Mr Gleeson,

I hope your ears have been burning on and off over the past 17 years?!

In November 2007, I ruptured my ACL and PCL and also tore my MCL. You repaired my ACL and PCL with LARS ligaments. At the time you said the operation would give me 5 years more horse riding.

Over 17 years on, I am still riding, I’ll be 80 in July.

I will be forever grateful that you performed the operation so that I was not left with a straight leg, which the doctor in A/E said was possibly the only option.

Fortunately I contacted out patients because I was not happy waiting for six weeks for a post injury follow up. Had I waited that long I think you said you would not have been able to reconstruct using LARS because the ligaments would have contracted too much to enable you to attach the LARS. I recently googled LARS ligaments and got the impression that they are not always thought to be the best choice of treatment?? They certainly worked for me!

Thank you so much. With kindest regards. Sue Stick
